The definition of an obstacle is something that obstructs or hinders progress.
Many of us face obstacles daily in our lives. But it is how we deal with them that matters.
Do you wallow in your struggles or do you find a solution?
Becoming a problem solver, instead of being part of the problem, can cause great things to unfold for us. It’s easier to complain about the problem or obstruction and do nothing than to look for ways to turn those obstacles into opportunities.
“Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” Warren Buffett
To plant the tree was work, the hole had to be dug, and the tree had to be watered daily for its survival. That tree was an obstacle that took time to plant and nourish. It was even an obstacle to mow around every time the yard needed mowing. But look at it now. The obstacle that took time to grow and took your time to mow around and weed eat around and water and trim became an opportunity for someone else to have shade later. It now provides shade for a family picnic or for a child to play under. It grew into a powerful force that could be climbed or played on. A food source for other animals and even a home to birds, caterpillars, and creatures. It’s trimmed and/or broken limbs can provide firewood for heat, for cooking, or for just a fire to sit around.
It was once just an obstacle, but the obstacle grew into many opportunities for others.
