OPULENCE, do you know what it is?

What does it mean? The meaning of opulence is great wealth or luxuriousness: a sign of great beauty. “Rooms of spectacular opulence."

Did your mind go to money first? When people think of luxury, normally they think of money, wealth, high-priced cars or jewelry or at least things along those lines. Yes, opulence can be all those things, however, you can dig much deeper into things that mean way more than wealth. What do you see when you look at a strand of pearls? Pearls are often viewed as an item of luxury, beauty and wealth, however, in reality, they are just a bead that can be manufactured and made to look real but they are actually fake. In fact, some would say that they are not the most beautiful type of jewelry.

Manufactured? If they are not the most beautiful, then why make knock-off versions? The answer is easy. We make or create knock-off versions because anything that has value we want to copy, so that there is a greater access to that item. The value, however, is not in what the pearl looks like it is in the process of how it is made. For this reason I chose it to be the absolute picture of OPULENCE. You may ask how a pearl is created? The smallest irritant makes a pearl in a clam, mussel or oyster. This process holds beauty. So does your process of how you get to where you are going. Your opulence is coming.

A natural pearl is created when an irritant - usually a parasite and not the proverbial grain of sand - works its way into an oyster, mussel or clam. As a defense mechanism, a fluid is used to coat the irritant. Layer upon layer of this coating, called 'nacre', is deposited until a lustrous pearl is formed. The same way an oyster does.

The irritant then becomes something that is valued. If you look at your irritants, trials and hardships the same way as the oyster does then it too will become your pearl. Normally a pearl equates to wealth or at least portrays the perception of wealth. Many generations ago wealthy women wore pearls given to them by their husband or a family member to symbolize their wealth or importance in their community.

Today they are still considered a sign of wealth but have been manufactured making them less expensive so that everyone can purchase them and wear them taking away their value and symbolism. True value, however, can not be manufactured it is found within and takes time, work and passion to create the pearl within yourself adding to your value and worth. Because when you find the real thing, that pearl inside yourself and nurture it that will outshine all limitations. It will withstand the trials and hardships because it is real and valuable.

True wealth or opulence is not found with money or things, your opulence is within you! You create your opulence through achieving your goals and turning that grain of sand, irritants in your life, into a pearl. Then you have many things of beauty to show for your effort and you are achieving opulence.
