That's a bunch of Hokum!
It sounds like a word that makes no sense! So now are you ready for the definition?
Hokum means nonsense!
We all have those moments in a day, hour or even just minutes where something doesn't make sense. You feel lost or like you are out of your element or are just feeling a little silly that you can't make sense of something? That is Hokum! It is complete nonsense!
Maybe you have hokum in your family life, work-life, or in some of your relationships. Do you ever wonder why?
Sometimes we get so complacent or just lost in our lives and in our situations that we become blind to what is actually going on and lose sight of the destination we are trying to achieve. We take things for granted, then we miss the forest for the trees. We become so used to things that we can no longer see the beauty. Like that rose bush, you walk by it every day to get into your front door. Yet you know it's there, but never stop to smell the sweet fragrance. Sometimes we don’t even see it until it becomes lifeless and in need of nourishment. If you wait until then to take care of it, to even just see its beauty, it may be too late. It will wither and die.
As Dr. Seuss says "...nonsense wakes up the brain cells...look at life through the wrong end of a telescope....that enables you to laugh at life's realities."
Relationships are like that too, however, a relationship is a two-way street, and sometimes how others treat you can be utter Hokum. Is this you?
