I can’t believe it’s already November. The end of the year is coming quickly and many people are starting to talk about their Christmas holiday plans and how they’re planning to wind down between now and the end of the year.
However, with almost two months still to go, I can’t help but feel that it would be a waste of valuable time to just do the bare minimum over the next few weeks.
Here are three things that you can build for yourself if you commit to finish the year strongly:
Build discipline – Just because everyone around you is slowing down doesn’t mean you have to as well. The disciplined person does what needs to be done and is focused on their own execution, not distracted by others and using their lack of effort as an excuse to do less.
Build your reputation – While others are dreaming about holidays, you have a terrific opportunity to differentiate yourself and establish a reputation for reliability and excellence if you continue to push through until the end of the year.
Build momentum – Often, sporting teams who finish the previous season off well also start the next one strongly. The momentum that they’ve been able to gather carries into the off-season and gives them the confidence to perform at a similarly high level when the new year starts.
The same thing happens in our own lives. When we close out the year strongly, ticking off our goals and increasing our confidence, we are able to march into the new year with our head held high, knowing that we are able to achieve remarkable deeds and reach audacious goals in the 12 months ahead.
I encourage you today to keep your head down and finish the year strongly. There are still important tasks to be completed, relationships to be built and ideas to be explored. By doing so, you’ll be able to build discipline, your reputation and momentum as you transition into the next stage of your exciting future.
