Have you ever seen a tree that’s still blooming even though it’s been blown over by a storm? Every time I see one, I think is “this such an incredible being. It is broken, but it continues to bloom.” A lot of us are just like those trees.
Think about the phrase “heart-broken” in English. It feels as though when we are hurt, our hearts aren’t exactly broken, but badly scarred. There is an interruption of the flow of energy and positive emotion through the scar tissue. I believe that is spiritual “broken-ness.”
More scar tissues mean that more parts of your spiritual heart become inaccessible to the natural flow of God’s grace. With the right amount of perseverance, compassion, forgiveness and love, we can massage the scar tissue and bring it back to life.
By being both compassionate and resilient, we can continue down the path of spiritual growth. Eventually you will learn to love those parts of you that have scars and over time you will start to bloom once again, resilient and strong just like those trees.
