The idea of New Year’s resolutions is excellent. Every year, we take the time to think about our most important life change and do our best to hit the mark. Unfortunately, the application and follow through of those resolutions are often disappointing for those of us who don’t achieve our desired result.
Setting goals is more than just stating an ideal scenario that you would like to see happen in your life. It’s a commitment to improving yourself, to changing your life to reflect how you really want it to be. How your life plays out is a reflection of you. Remember, your world is a mirror of your inner thoughts, dreams and desires, but it also includes those old scars, filters, and fears. Real change requires effective action, which take conscious planning.
I want to encourage you to surround yourself with supportive people and ask for help. Make a pact with someone like me, a peer life coach, or a close friend to join you on the journey. That way, you can meet or check-in regularly to report on the actions required and the results. Staying in touch with your goals can keep you on track and motivated. Remember to treat your New Year’s resolutions like goals and you will see better results.
