Do It Afraid

Updated: Mar 27, 2022

Courage is the ability to do something that frightens you. Fear is a real thing and it can paralyze you and prevent you from making a change. Have you ever been so afraid that you remained stuck in the same place rather than trying to move forward?

Most people can remember a time when fear gripped them so tightly, they couldn’t move, or it made them run because that fear felt so real. I remember an incident back when I was helping to facilitate some training for the Bob Proctor program. We were supposed to do an eight-minute presentation and everyone was split up into groups to practice their speeches beforehand. Each person would then do their presentation in front of the bigger group and I would help guide them through things they needed to work on for the next session. I remember it was one lady’s turn to speak in front of her small group. Once the lady stood up, however, she froze and then ran out of the room. She never returned to complete the exercise or finish the seminar. In that moment, her anxiety turned into fear and her body’s natural fight or flight instinct kicked in and made her run. That’s how real fear can feel.

Here’s the thing. We’re all afraid of different things but if we have enough faith, anything is possible. You see, faith, and hope, and courage all go hand in hand. Courage gives you the ability to move beyond fear. Faith is where you believe in something that gives you something to rest your beliefs on. Courage supports an idea and courage supports your faith. Courage supports your hope. So, face what you fear and do it afraid! Take a step outside of your comfort zone. With a courageous spirit, anything is possible.
